Today I received an e-mail that has Microsoft Outlook totally frozen. It looks like the "mailer daemon" emails you get with returned mail. Now when I open Outlook it automatically goes in to "not responding" status. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office XP Pro... but all the e-mails are still there when i reinstall ... so it's still frozen...

help please :)

I had this problem once with a Mail delivery return, which was converted to text and was huge.
Same symptoms.
Try opening Outlook after a clean reboot and wait, wait, wait. Leave it for 30 minutes (max). If it is still hanging on that message (probably in Preview Pane?), send yourself some emails from hotmail or so, and keep retrying until the problem mail is not the first one anymore.
Now you can delete it, but DON'T click on it, or you're back in that situation!
Select at least 2 other emails to delete while holding the Cttrl key before you select that mail. If the solution is here, let us know it was helpful so others can benefit from it as too
