Situation: A have a mobile user with a POP mailbox on my mail server. He normally accesses the mail server via a Sierra AirCard over the Verizon Wireless network. Windows XP views the AirCard as a network card.
Situation continued: POP mail is available from outside of the firewall and is working fine. My firewall is performing NAT, so the IP address of my mail server is different depending on which side of the firewall a user is on. When my user gets back into the office, he wants to plug into my LAN for high-speed access to his mail.
Problem: how do I change Outlook 2002 on his notebook PC to retrieve email via my LAN (instead of the AirCard) when he plugs in?
I found that Outlook has a feature which will initiate dialup when a network connection is unavailable, but since the AirCard is viewed as a network adapter, I won't be able to use this feature.
Any ideas? Thanks.
