Outlook mail merge disabled!?!?!?!

I am trying to mail merge some contacts in Outlook 2000 to a Word document. I have done a "Customize current view" to filter the contacts, but once I am on this current view the "mail merge" option in the Tools drop-down is disabled. Only when I return to a different standard view is the mail merge enabled, and this is not filtered.

Any ideas???

Just copy all the filtered items into a temporary contacts folder and use that contacts folder.
