hi

outlook journal is crashing my pc - how do you empty the journal entries without going into journal (you can't open it - it just hangs)?

if anyone knows the name of the file perhaps i could just delete it.

any thoughts?

Are you fimiliar with the Registry and editing it??
If you are, then try this...

Go to Start->Run and type regedit
Then go to the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Outlook\Journaling

In here, for each of the items that you have set to be journaled, click on the folder, eg, 'E-mail Message' and in there change the value enabled from 1 to 0 Some of the folders (keys) like 'Phone Call' may already have this set to 0. This is ok. Close regedit and then open Outlook again. See if that makes a difference.

If not, try deleting the values (NOT the folders (keys) in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Outlook\Journaling folder itself, eg, UserModify etc, but leave the Default there.

Basically Im trying to disable the journal, this wont delete the items, but at least you may be able to get in and manually delete them like normal.
Good luck!! Jay~

My new Tae Kwon Do website is up and running!!
