outlook is retreving data from exchange server message

i just switched from exchange 5.5 to exchange 2000 and I keep getting messages on all the workstations saying outlook is retreving data from exchange server, and it will stay there for 10 minutes or so... Can ayone tell me what is going on ?? ... so far i have installed new 1gig NIC card increased the memory to 2 Gig Bytes, still getting the error... also does not seem effect the web based email client(OWA)

Make sure dns is setup correctly. Or make sure your mail server is listed in your hosts file.
