Our Windows 98 PCs running Outlook 97 are now crwaling. When we launch Outlook, it hangs for a couple of minutes it seems on the splash screens. We are using Exchange 5.5 and using TCP/IP as our standard protocol. We do run IPX combined on some configurations for Netware resources but it does not make any difference. The problem has just developed in the past couple of weeks. Also, our standard antivirus program is Norton Antivirus 7.0 CE with Exchange protection. All Windows 95 PCs are fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

We had a similiar problem. I put a hosts file in and it seems to work alot better.

You need to know the IP address of the server.

Go to MS-Dos prompt.
At the c:\windows type edit hosts.sam press enter
you will see a blue screen with information on it.
arrow down to the bottom, below the 127. and type in your server IP address. then space over to below the local host, and type in the name of your server.
press the ALT key, then enter. then the letter A to "SAVE AS"
When the SAVE AS screen comes up, type HOSTS then tab to the ok button. You don't want the .SAM on there now.
back at the c:\windows screen,
type exit to get back to windows.
You will need to reboot for this to take affect.
I think you will see a definent improvement.
