Have a major problem with Outlook task bar....I have NT4 workstation with Office 97 suite installed. Service pack 6a high for NT, service pack 2 for Office97, Outlook 98 internet 5.5 (8.5.5104.6) service pack1 . Our computers are a bob standard workhorse typically 500Mhz on a P3, 128 Meg 10 Gig (leaving a Gig to Page File in its own partition) C:drive on a FAT partition, D: E: and F: drives on a NTFS partition. All applications are loaded on the D: drive. Data stored on a network drive. A mostly typical fileserver come workstation network

We have created a directory structure where exe files are saved in named folders and the named folders are placed in the Outlook Bar ( Just in case..Outlook 98 does not facilitate icons in the outlook bar!!! ) In the task bar of outlook I have files which have shortcuts to applications exe. All applications are loaded locally and all workstations participate in a NT4 100 base T network structured cabling with dumb hubs in places.

Problem

We have experienced the same re-occurring problem on different computers. When accessing a network folder that has been placed in the outlook bar this error message appears.

"OUTLOOK.EXE Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x306c2481"

outlook crashes. Another type of message also appears in other instances. This is Access violation (0xc0000005), address: 0x6c8a76b0 .
This problem persists when outlook is re booted, however the network folder can be accessed via explorer no problem.

So for 2 months now we have been searching and applying different types of fixes, all of which works in the first instance, but then re appears for no apparent reason. Sometimes after a couple of weeks, other times after a month????

Has anyone experienced the same problem accessing network folders through outlook bar violation error, and found a permanent fix????
