Hi,

I need help. I lost my exchange server 2003 and the backup screwed up and cannot restore. I re-installed everything and it's all up and running again.

my question is. my staff's email is still on their laptop that has outlook 2003. is there a way to push the files on the outlook 2003 database on the laptop back to the exchange server so the staff will still have their old emails?

thanks,
ky

OK,

Get them to load outlook BUT DO NOT Let them connect to the exchange server.

Then just do an Archive Everything including things marked do not archive older than 1/1/1900 this will archive EVERYTHING into a PST file on their PC's.

Make a backup(s) of this file say one locally and one on a file server.

Then go to the client pc, recreate the Outlook profile connecting to the server then open the saved PST file in the Outlook and just manually move the folders and emails back into the Exchange mailbox.

Pretty simple but time consumming.

Iain, Thanks, that works. I was able to copy the existing outlook emails into an archive file. rejoined the user to the domain and exchange server, and than reload the archive to the new IN BOX.

my next question is. for instance, john doe was part of the domain. server crashes and is rebuilt and his username and computer needed to be added to domain again. john doe has to rejoin the domain on his desktop and that creates a new desktop/favorites/proflies in the C:\ Drive. John has no access to his old outlook 2003. I log into as an admin and where can i find is old outlook inbox. how do i restore it to his new profile.

the previous step was when i can still log into the old username and have access to the old outlook emails.

thanks,
ky
