I have a laptop with Desktop Messaging (Lastest version)installed. It works fine in the office, but when I'm away from the office the outlook will freeze due to the Desktop messaging client not being able to find the BCM. There are times when I can't connect to the internet (or VPN to the office)that I still need to access my contacts. The only way that seems to fix this is if I unplug the network cable for a second then plug back in. Is there a bulletin on this? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Unplug the network cable and plug it back in???

If Desktop Messaging is unable to connect when you open Outlook a dialog box should pop up telling you there is a problem with the connection and giving you the option to retry the connection of work offline.
Choose work offline.
This should allow you to use Outlook without any problems.

There is a timer where UM tries to connect to the server (it's about 90 seconds). If you are connected to a LAN at all but not able to connect with the server (BCM), you must wait for this to expire before you will get the dialog box.

To expedite this, simply be disconnected from the LAN when you open Outlook and the dialog pops up immediately. Then, reconnect with the LAN.
