Outlook Font Changes after Sent 2

Hi,

I have searched the net for this problem but never really found a solution/explanation.

We are using Outlook 2003 SP1 on Exchange 2003. By default all emails are sent as HTML unless specified otherwise. The problem is when a user sends an email. It looks fine on the screen, they hit send and the email delivers as per usual. They only realise that the font in the email has randomly gone large in areas when the recipient replies back to them advising that their email looks "funny". When we check the sent items, it has large in places and the font has not only changed size but actual font as well. To make matters worse this is very random so it's difficult to track down a pattern.

Any ideas????

I've had problems with message corruption - when i viewed the source of the html email, I saw incomplete tags - looked like a character in the HTML was missing every now and then.

But that was with a lotus notes server in the equation.

Are you using Word as the email editor? My guess would be that you have a problem with styles updating.

if you used a font that the email recipient does not have then their system will convert it to the default system font they have.

also, the tip about open tags is another area. some email servers also convert html emails to txt format to prevent virus intrusions.

I have the same problem!! I am using Outlook 2003 (SP2) with Exchange 2003 (SP2).

Have you fixed this problem? I have noticed that the users with this problem are using Word 2003 as their email editor - does turning this off fix it?

I believe that there is asetting 'Always Use My Fonts' somewhere in advanced options in Outlook. I don't have OL 2003 available to check at the moment though.

Well, as suggested, has anyone tried turning off Word as their editor - in Tools->Options->Mail Format ?

There are utilities for Exchange servers and other ways to force all outgoing emails to conform to a company standard format. Are you sure that the changes are not being forced by company policy?

Hey all ... I'm having the same problem,

We have SBS 2003 and outlook 2003, word is not selected for sending of emails (html is used)

The client types up a email and it all looks normal but when its sent the recipient see's text with different sizes and if they then go back to their sent items the email does have different sizes... it’s very erratic no pattern to it and I just can’t figure it out any help would be greatly appreciated.

There were plenty of answers, the question should be did one of these answers resolve rklalli's problem. Or at least explain it.

The answer is "42"

Also try switching your Stationery off (ie to <None>, not Blank) in Tools->options->mail format

Maybe also try switching off any signatures, too.

Thanks for the replies. Never did manage to resolve this and it's an ongoing intermittent issue. One thing I have noticed is that this is more likely to occur if the sender copies and pastes text from another document/source into the email. They will then format it all to their normal standard but the HTML source (tags) of the email do not update......

Just to update as well ... Still having the problem randomly ... happens if the user copy and pastes or even types a email from scratch, I cant seem to find any pattern to it makes it very hard to troubleshoot.

Was having the same basic issue, user had problems with paragraph spacing, font showing up in different colors, and font face changed when replies were sent back to the original user. Searched google and most articles recommended not using word as the default mail editor, well that wasn't an option unfortunately. After spending 4hrs of various work arounds and fixes I then came back and banged my head on my keyboard for overlooking something so simple..... nickpark's comment about switching the stationary to '<none>' instead of 'Blank' made me second guess myself so I went back and sure enough that fixed it.
