I have a Win2K pro system and I noticed that the Outlook mail files are in the
Document setting/username/Application data etc...
AND
Document setting/username/local-settings/Application data etc...
Anyone know the reason why the two directories... does it use em both ?
Can I nuke one... they both seem to get updated ?

Thanks

what are the names of the files? including their extensions? "Work to live, don't live to work"

Hi there,

Is this client using an exchange server or another like Domino? You may be seeing 2 .pst/.nst files because there is a local profile and a network profile. Josh

They are both named outlook.pst I know they are the outlook post office files.
The question remains why are there two of them, in in two seperate directories ?
When I have migrated from system to system, that is the file I take with me, but now there are two of them ?

with Outlook open both PST files and examine both the Inboxes and compare the emails etc

are they the same?

In answer to your earlier question you should only be using one of them

try renaming one of them to something like outlook.old and then restart outlook and see if any errors come up. Keep it for a month if the user doesn't complain about anything then delete it (back it up once on the server before deleting) "Work to live, don't live to work"
