Hi All,

I need to copy someones folders in Outlook Express 6(*.dbx) from one pc to another, but I can't figure out how to add them back into Outlook Express on the new pc. I know how to copy and add in pst's in Outlook, but this silly problem has me stumped...smile. Thanks in advance for your help.

Todd

On the new machine, open OE, File, Import, Messages, MS OE 6, Import mail from an OE store directory, OK, browse to the old *.dbx files, & complete the import wizard.

Smah,

Thanks...but I tried that. No matter where I put the .dbx's, when I tell it to import from the folder I put them in, using the exact steps per your email, I get the following error:
No messages can be found in this folder, or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications.

The only application I have open is Outlook express and it's not using these files. I even tried creating a new Outlook Express account on another computer, creating folders and then tried importing them into a new Outlook express account on another pc...same issue. If you have any luck doing this, please let me know...smile.

Yes, that will work. Your folder level heirarch might be different than it originally was, but it can be rearanged afterward. The situation that you describe is a common occurance when 'folders.dbx' is not copied with the rest of the mail store or if it was somehow corrupted during the move.
