I am using Windows XP, OE6. Windows SP2 Not installed.
My OE could handle my HOTMAIL accounts properly. but for other email account, my OE could only receive, could not SEND. Detail errow message below:
****************************
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.126.com', Server: 'smtp.126.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
*****************************
I tried following methods, NO solution.
- Disable the firewall of my LAN connection. (ISP: Bell sympatico, two XP computers connected parallel to a router then to the internet.)
- 'netstat -an' in command (DOS) mode, could not find the 0.0.0.25 or 0.0.0.110
-virus check. not virus.
-disable my anti-virus software.
-telnet to the my mail server. could not connect.
-logon my mail box in the website, I could do every email function.
I set the same account on my office computer (Win95). It works.
I heard some ISP (like COX) do not support any other email account than their own. is that right? I believe the problem is with my computer or with the ISP. NOT on my email server. (I do selected the 'my smtp server need identical authorization in OE as the instruction)
Who can figure this out? OR at least anybody use a LAN at home and use Sympatico as ISP but can make a pop email account work properly? I am almost mad about this in the past week.
thank you in advance for your kindly help!
