Cannot open any http address from the body of an eamail.
Clicking on it will open browser, but not the web page...it hangs (forever) but does not lock up. I can copy the http and paste on an open browser address slot and it will go to the web site that way...this problem has been presented to bot Cox HiSpeed and HP support personnel...with no answers or solution from either source...they are as confused as I any thoughts on the subject or a solution would be really appreciated...

I'm not sure I know what the issue is - could be registry error or something.

Have you tried removing Outlook Express and installing a clean version? That's about the only asnwer I can think of.

I good Outlook Express site that may offer some real help is at:

You would have a better chance of getting a response in the E-Mail Issues forum, forum605, but here's your answer anyway:

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol/Advanced/Edit. Under Application used to perform action it should read: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

to CKPEEL and SMAH thank you for the assist but the problem goes beyond OE I have discovered..for example I could not get the http in you answers to respond either..that is unless I copied and pasted to a new browser window...
also I have same problem in Yahoo mail...so I am presuming it may be be an XP problem in that I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE6

It's still the same issue. Did you follow the instructions that I posted above.

By the way, you can't uninstall IE6 from XP, so I'm not sure what you did.

Yes I did as you suggested thank you and I can now open URL addresses contained within the OE Email,; however, can not open them from yahoo email nor from some other internal places...

see if there's anything here of interest: thread608-132319

thanks again, another interesting discovery is that if "stop" the hanging browser, then "refresh", the URL comes up almost immediately...

Went to Thread you pointed out..ran the dll and apparently have solved the problem completely...can notbegin to tell you how delighted this old man is with that one...now I guess I should apprise the local Cox Hispeed folks...and HP..
to SMAH, you have my undying gratitude...for helping me correct a real booger~
