I have a customer who uses outlook express (6.00.2600.0000) on WinXP SP2
with Windows Updates active and all current updates installed.
The customer uses email almost exclusively to forward jokes and funny
pictures that he received in his inbox, to multiple friends.
He does not yet know about the semi-colon, so he selects an item from
his inbox, hits forward, types in one email address, hits send, and
then repeats the entire process for the next recipient. As a result
he is using the forward button repeatedly and quickly.
The result is that the forwarded mail gets "STUCK" in the outbox and
is re-delivered to his recipients everytime the send/receive button
is used (and on startup/shutdown of OE).
I have read the microsoft forum posts that recommend locating and deleting the
OUTBOX and SENTITEMS dbx files. I did this and the problem actually
got worse. Before the deletions, the forward button seemed to
occassionally work. After the deletions and recreations, it now
fails consistently, even on the first try. The create new mail function
still works correctly and its contributions to the outbox don't seem
to ever get stuck unless other (forward-sourced) messages are stuck already.
The customer claims that this behavior began about 8/07, but that could
just be when he first ran windows update.
My questions are...
Is anyone else using this combination of OE and WinXP versions with
current updates and if so, can you repeatedly forward emails without
them getting stuck?
Does anyone have any ideas what to try next after the delete dbx files
repair attempt fails?
...Thanks in advance for all of the help.

If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid
