Outlook Express: Mapped Drive Store Folder

I am unable to select a mapped drive as a store location in outlook express 5 and 6.
when I browse to a mapped drive, the ok button becomes faded. if i browse back to a local drive the ok button becomes black and can be selected.
i have tried this on several pc's, 98 and 2000 professional, with the same result.
Can anyone advise how to set a mapped drive as a store location
