Can anyone tell me why my 7 or 8 messages in my Outlook Express Inbox requires an inbox .dbx file of 24 megs? What does Wild Bill do with it all???

Though my Outlook .pst is 28 megs, but it might have 50 messages and a bunch of other stuff.......[tongue]

Compact it if it bothers you. In OE, File, Folder, Compact all Folders. (When it's big enough, it will happen automatically anyway).

Thanks, SMAH. It's mainly just an annoyance. It boggles the mind the amount of software development and coding that must have been done by Microsoft to assure the file is a thousand times bigger than it probably need be. It's as big as the Registry, whose size also is mind boggling, but at least it has a pile of data...[tongue]

You'll find that many MS databases work that way. You can delete records but the database remains the same size until you compress it. OE is probably from the same code base.
