Outlook Express Attachment problem

All,

Recently one of our directors has complained that when he tries to attach something in Outlook express from his laptop, when he clicks to go through a shortcut on his desktop, the shortcut (lnk file) is attached to the email!

I have seen this before, and thought it was normal behaviour, but he insists it has not been that way until now.

As he is the only one in the company with OE I can't test it out on other installations... :( (We have a standard desktop build which does not include OE)

Can anyone help? Is there a switch in Options that makes it go through links instead of attaching them, or something like that?

Apparently this problem is not unique... but I still cannot find an answer... Can anyone confirm they have the same difficulty?

Windows XP SP2, all most recent updates
OE6 (I think - whatever comes with above)

I've always thought it was normal behaviour. If he wants to attach a file he needs to go to the actual file location, not the shortcut that is on his desktop.

I just tried it with OE 6.0 on my desktop and I get the same behaviour. When I click to go through a shortcut on my desktop, the shortcut (lnk file) is attached because in the eyes of OE the shortcut is a file (hence the .lnk extension). If you want to attach a file you need to go to the file's location, not the shortcut to the location.

Cheers.

That's what I told the director, but he insisted he was able to do this just a couple of months ago. And it turns out he is correct. This is only recent behaviour in OE. I still haven't found a fix for it.

I might have to call MS or something...

Thanks for verifying! :)
