Hi,
Long story short, a user doesn't know his email account information, and I know where to get the mail folders for outlook express, but i do not know where to find the account information of that user in the computer if he never "exported" the account.

The registred owner of the account is in vacation, but his employe need to take the emails.

Any place I can get this information at inside the machine?
Thanks,

I'm not sure that I'm following correctly... If you have access to the machine, does opening OE get the mail that's needed?

If you can't get the mail because the password is not stored, it will still not be stored for you to retrieve by some other means.

The harddrive is defective, I changed the harddrive, and reinstalled Windows xp,

I kept the defective harddrive (the windows will not load),
so I could recover the files that were still accessible.

but I cannot open Outlook Express since the windows will not start. The "owner" of the account is in vacation and cannot be reached, but the employe that is doing his job doesn't know the account information.

So i am trying to find in what file or registry entry the account information could be stored (is there a way to load a registry file without being loaded in the windows?)

I know it wouldn't be very safe to do it that way, or to let people know how to access these files, but I'm getting desperate, and need to check if there is an other way then to call the ISP, since they won't accept to give it to someone else then the registred user.

Grypht,

You can find some of what you want in the registry at:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager\Accounts

But that still won't give you the mail account password.
