I'm trying to export messages from a ME box with OutExp 98 to a 2000 pro box with OutExp6. I get an error when trying to export from either box that says Error occured while initiating MAPI.

Any way I can fix this?

Thanks
Gene

Ok I know this question isn't that hard, Did I forget an importaint detail.? By the way Outlook is the default MAPI and I can't seem to find a way to change it.

Thanks

I'm having this exact same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I see in some other threads that there are instructions for moving all the mail files directly from one computer to another...but that will make things complicated for me, as the computer I'm exporting from is shared by several other users, and I only want to transfer my own email files.

Before you can export in Outlook Express, you have to install Outlook (full version) on that computer, then go into Outlook (full version) and set it as the default mail handler. Then you can go back to Express and export your mail. Copy that export file to disk and you can use it on another computer that has Outlook (full version). If you want to import back into Express, you have to first import into Outlook (full version) then export again - at least this has been the only way I've found around it! Lot of hoops, but par for the course with Microsoft.
