Hello

I use outlook express 6 for my email I reciently on advsied from my isp (bt) to use smtp and check the box "my server requires authentication" since doing this I cannot send any emails

I get a "logon" box appear asking for my user name and password. I put them in (and they are correct!) and the logon on box bounces back almost straight away.

I have been onto bt they are no help at all im using a 3rd party isp on bt broadband. Sometimes it tries to send I get authorising at the bottom of my outlook express screene. Please can you help.

I can use send/recieve and this works ok for my incomming emails.

I have nortons internet security as well (for your info)

Thanks

Is it essential that they are authenticated? because if not just revert back to how it was 'unchecked'.

Yes they must be authenticated I have tried to revert it back but an error code comes up saying it Must be authenticated.

I had an email from bt (my server provider)saying to follow a few easy steps as described in first post but since then i cannot send an email

Have you tried the isp's website to see if this problem is common?
