I have just built a new machine and I have installed IE 6 and OE 6. I want to transfer all my old email and address book from the old machine to the new. How can I do this? I have tried several things but the transfer is not working. I'm looking for assistance here.

Are the .*DBX and *.WAB files too large to be transferred via diskettes ?

I copied what I thought were the mail files from application/microsoft/outlook express/mail onto a cd and transfered them to the new machine but nothing changed. The mail folders inbox, drafts , sent mail, etc didn't change. That's why I wrote this thread, I figured that the mail was located somewhere else. Can you help me?

Did you try (from OE) File , Import , Mail program to import from , Browse to the CD-folder ?

I could import from a cd if I knew for sure that the files on the cd are the correct email files, i.e. inbox, sent mail, and drafts, etc. I my question is where are these files located? If I knew that for sure I could transfer them to my new machine. I copied all the files that I thought were correct, and evidently I was wrong.

If you Click on Start , Find , Files or folders and select *.DBX , the location of all mail files should be displayed.

From OE do Tools/Options/Store Folders. This is probably somewhere bizarre. You can just overwrite from the cd. Remember to stop OE first and remove the read only check from the copied files. Could be a good time to put them somewhere more logical so you can back them up easily. Peter Meachem
