Outlook Express 5 - Huge file size /b

Hi

I am trying to back up data from a mac o/s 8.5

I have a huge Outlook Express 5 data file and have been deleting as many emails as I dare - however when I explore the HDD the file size has not reduced, even after reboots etc it is still huge.

Is there a procedure that I am lacking - I know that with .pst files I have to compress them from within properties to regain space...

Any ideas would be appreciated

Yes I did,

I have now resolved the problem - if you hold the options key whilst executing Outlook a option to compress the file appears - I got it from over 500mb to 20mb !!!
