Outlook Express 5.0 Locks machine

I haveOE 5 on my machine and it got really slow all of a sudden. I tried re-installing OE several times, and it still does the same thing. I completely removed all instances of OE from the Registry and then re-installed, and that didn't work either... Rapidly running out of ideas..if someone has any ideas, i'd appreciate advice.
Particulars: Windows 98, IE5.5 and internet tools, OE5, 64mb RAM, 80% resources free, 601K conventional memory...

don't use oe.use some real mail programm, at least netscape messeger. it looks nice and works fine (

or use eudora or outlook, but not express ;-)
