outlook expr.......timing out

When (on my laptop)I connect to outlook express , through a dialup connection, my outlook times out before my modem can connect. Is there a way through option or something to fix this problem?
If I connect to my dialup first and then check outlook it works, but I would like to beable to just double click on the outlook icon a check e-mail without double clicking on the dailup icon.

set your time out options in the account set up go to tools accounts, highlight your account and click on properties, go to connection and set it to your default connection.Then go to advanced and set the server timeout a little higher maybe 2 minutes or so and it should work..
