We are getting one of our users an 8700g Blackberry. We use Exchange for email. After getting the 8700g, can I setup his user@ourdomain.com email without installing anything on his local pc i.e. no need for a usb connection?

I need to be able to relay email to the device without his outlook needing to be open. Is that possible?

What features are you delivering? What version of BES server are you running on? It depends on the version of your BES. On BES 3.6, patches, contact(not within the domain) and task have to done on "Desktop Manager"(software that installed on PC). If you have ver. 4+, you won't need anything on PC at all.

trojanman,

it is possible. you will need a BlkBery Enterprise Server (BES) license and CALs. I strongly recommend going with version 4. since all Outlook synchronization and message forwarding is wireless, there is no need to connect a BlkBry with USB to a PC. Yes, it will work while outlook is closed/user logged off etc. All of this will cost you about $5K. Do not Load the BES software on your Exch Server. Hope this helps.

Actually you dont need BES. You simply add the company email to the providers website (in this case tmobile) and you change the reply to email. With a few mail redirection tips in AD youre good to go.
