Connecting to the exchange server through the internet. Exchange server, AbcServer1 has a static IP. The company has several laptops.
Internally, they have to connect to the exchange server at 10.0.0.2. When they connect through the internet, they have to connect through the static IP.
In the Exchange server properties in outlook, I put the static address, click "Check Name", the name resolves properly (underlines) and the IP address changes to "Abcerver1" (underlined)
The only way I can make it work is to put Abcserver1 and the static IP in the HOSTS file.
The problem is, if I put Abcserver1 and the static IP in the Hosts file, works great from the Internet, but not locally (because it is looking for exchange at the Static IP instead of 10.0.0.2)
Ideally, I'd want to put the correct address IP in the outlook profile... but it insists on resolving to the server name.
How do I make exchange work internally and externally [sig][/sig]
