Outlook error msg: The operation failed. An object could not be found 1

When I try to close some old no longer used pst files I get a message "The operation failed. An object could not be found". I use Outlook 2003.

I have come across this before and the only way that I have managed to get around this is by making a note of all of the settings and then deleting the e-mail profile. Then making it from scratch using the current PST file only.
