Greetings all,

One of my users recently received this error in Outlook 2000 (running under Windows 2000):

"Unable to open your default mail folders. An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load the information services Pstprx.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured."

Outlook was running fine a week ago, but the person went on vacation and many other users have been on his system since. However, no one but administrators have access to install/remove programs from the PC.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? The Microsoft site is no help whatsoever, nor are the "Help" files. Any help would be most appreicated.

Did you get a solution? I am looking for a solution since 2 months and have no idea. I need PSTPRX.DLL for running my Archiving. Archiving stops allways with the same message (Missing PSTPRX.DLL).

Please send your solutions or comments to andreas.koehler@conti.de

It has been reported that a program called FIXMAPI.EXE has sorted this problem out for other users. Maybe it will help it should be in c:\windows\system I haven't personally verified this so treat with caution.

Good luck

There is solutions.
in control panel, double click on e-mail (there is picture of inbox) then add new profile there and set is default

Now your e-mail is working fine. Actually it is the problem of MAPI. Old version uses the old method PSTPRX.dll, while Outlook 2002 uses new one PSTPRX32.dll.
