Hi,

I'm using Windows XP / Office XP.

If I have Outlook running - no problem, as soon as I look at any type of email - it tries to connect to the 'net continually, every 5 minutes.

I've trawled through the options, but can't find any obvious settings.

N.B. I do get occasional Norton Antivirus liveupdate requests (which I've ignored), but the Norton dialogue isn't in sight when I get this 'connecting' problem.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Check the following:

Tools/Options/Mail Setup

There is a Send/Receive command button. In here is an option to check your mail automatically every "x" minutes. This option is available for online AND offline...remove the check for OFFLINE.

Is your connection through LAN or Modem or both?

Hope this helps

Thanks Dollar,

Lifesaver.

It is a slightly obscure default setting.
