Hello,

Outlook stores my contacts as predictive contacts but when I shut down my computer the contacts are in my address book but do not auto-populate. The correct option is selected in the options. Not sure what is the cause.

Also Outlook was also removed and reinstalled on this machine twice. On occasion outlook also crashes while drafting e-mails. Drafts aren't saved so it's quite frustrating.

Kindly let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

You need to provide some more detail.

[ol 1]
[li]What version of Outlook?[/li]
[li]When you say "autopopulate", do you mean when you start typing, they just autofill? That only happens once you've actually used an address on at least one occasion, not just b/c it's in your address book.[/li]
[li]What option is the "correct option" you're referring to, and what do you have it set to?[/li]
[li]When you say in your address book, do you mean the actual "address book", or do you have them under "My Contacts"?[/li]

As requested.

1.What version of Outlook? 2010
2.When you say "autopopulate", do you mean when you start typing, they just autofill? That only happens once you've actually used an address on at least one occasion, not just b/c it's in your address book. Yes, this feature is working properly until the cuputer is shut down. Then the names no longer "Auto-Complete"
3.What option is the "correct option" you're referring to, and what do you have it set to? Under the Mail sub-menu in options - The "Use Auto-Complete list to suggest names when typing in the To, CC, and BCC kines".
4.When you say in your address book, do you mean the actual "address book", or do you have them under "My Contacts"? An actual address book populated from a server.

Thanks!!!!

I think #2 is the key to this...

It appears that when Outlook crashes, your profile is being overwritten b/c of Outlook attempting to repair itself, or else your profile is never saving.

So, my initial ideas of what to look for:
1. User File Permissions - make sure you have permissions to write to the Profile folder/file(s). and that the application has permissions.. it SHOUDLD, but something could have gotten messed up, causing those to be incorrect.

2. Add-ons causing the crash and possible corruption of the user profile. Try disabling all add-ons, if it works, then you know it's an add-on, and then you can begin re-enabling one at a time until you find the culprit. If it's something you don't need, don't use it. If it is something you need, then you'll need to investigate further, but at least you'll know where to look.

And don't forget... you'll have to use an address at least once before it'll show in the autofill list.
