I use outlook to access my company exchange server. I am using sonic wall VPN. It is VERY inconsistent. Sometimes I can connect right away, then for days on end I get the error message that the exchange server is not available... when it is. If I go in thru outlook web access, it's fine and others are getting in. It always happens the same way; Outlook opens, I click send/receive and it goes immediately to 50% done and says "trying to connect"... then after a few minutes, I get the error about the exchange server not being available. I have had this experience on 4 different computers. Is it something I am doing in the set up? Or is outlook just that unstable?

Outlook connects sometimes.... sometimes not.

Maybe it is not Outlook. Take a look at your network and how much data is being pushed. When is the most common times it happens and what is going on at that time. It maybe a problem with the throughput on your network.
If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.
