Outlook checking for email when closed

Have a problem with outlook checking for email after it has been closed. I could not find an article at microsoft's website to fix this. Has anyone experience this?

goto tools menu open options-mail setup click send/receive and change the offline settings so that it says online only

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
