Colleagues,

I am running Exchange 5.5 SP4. After a defragmentation with ESEUTIL went bad, I had a corrupted priv.edb that I was able to restore, but now I have a client with the following problem:

He is on a W2K workstation running Outlook 2000. When he opens outlook the preview pane is active. He can then deactivate the preview pane, but when he closes outlook, a message pops up that reads,

"Outlook cannot correctly save the view. Any changes you made to the view may be lost. Unable to delete this view. You do not have access or access has been denied."

When he then reopens outlook, the preview pane is again active. This is just one example of a recurring problem with changing views. Some of the views don't even work such as Message w/ AutoPreview.

Additionally, he has unread emails from before the database restore that will not open. He will receive the message, "Can't open this item." when he attempts to open the email. It also doesn't appear that any attachments were restored.

As far as I can tell, he is the only client having this problem, and the problem appears on any machine with his profile. It sounds like a problem with his mailbox specifically, but I have no idea where to even start troubleshooting. Any suggestions?

From a backup?

Try to Exmerge the mailbox and delete it. Create it and Exmerge back in. Dan
