2 computers going through Linksys router to the internet (satelite provider).
- computer 1 has Windows XP (fully patched), running Outlook XP (2002).
- computer 2 has Windows XP (fully patched), running Outlook 2003.
Both computers fail when trying to login and authenticate to both the POP3 and SMTP servers. They see the servers fine, they just can not authenticate. They also have no problems connecting to the internet through Internet Explorer.
I tried their exact email settings on my laptop at home, also going through the same Linksys router, but through cable modem.
- my computer has Windows XP (fully patched), running Outlook 2000.
I have no problems sending or receiving email on this account.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing the send and receive to fail on my clients computers? Or what to check out?
More background:
These same 2 computers were sending and receiving email just fine when my client lived in town, and were using a cable modem. Nothing has changed on the computers.
The only changes are physical location, and ISP.
Help! I've fallen and I can't reach my beer.
