outlook auto check for new email..?

Hello all,

Outlok only checks or sends email when I hit the "send/receive" button.

Is there a setting I could set to automatically run the "send/receive" when it's opened?

My outlook no longer does that even though it is setup to check every 5 minutes.

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

it no longer does what, check for new mail every 5 minutes or check when you open it? all the options to do that are in Tools>Options
