Outlook attachments open in I.E> Window

Hi,

I have an issue where when I open an attachment (XLS, PPT), instead of the correct application launching, the file is viewed within internet explorer.

I recall a registry key setting needing changing to allow the attachment to open up in the office application but am unable to locate exactly which one....

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Outlook is not my thing, but...

Try going into Windows Explorer and under
[Tools]..
[Folder Options]..
[File Types]..

locate the xls extension and check it is set to open using Microsoft Excel.
