I just installed Windows 2003 SP 1 on a test server. 2 immediate problems I have found is that I can't launch Outlook or IE when loggin on through Terminal Services. This machine's main function will be terminal server. I can launch both apps if I log on locally to the machine, but logging on remotely, I can't. I don't think it is a rights issue, because I logged on locally as the admin and it was fine, I logged on remotely as the admin and it did not work.

The specific error when launching Outlook is:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000096)"

Ie just doesn't do anything.
Anyone else come across this?

Thanks.

Let me update this. It seems to be a Citrix problem, in which case I will post in the appropriate forum. If I log on through Remote Desktop, everything is fine. If I log on through the Citrix client, I have the problem. I'll research this further.

did you ever get the outlook issue resolved? we're having the same problem (outlook under citrix on a 2003 server doesn't run) - saw another post here saying to turn off data encryption protection for outlook, but not where or how to do it.

Yeah. I had to download a hotfix from Citrix. I am assuming you installed SP1, because that is when I started having the problem. I don't have the exact article number, but if you go to the Citrix website and do a search on Windows 2003 SP1 and Outlook, you should be able to find it.

I just installed another Windows 2003 Server with SP1. The hotfix that you need to install has been updated.
It is Hotfix Rollup Pack XW2K3R01. It is available from the Citrix website. This is for Citrix Presentation Server XP 1.0 FR 3 with Service Pack 4 on Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1.
