Hello all,
The CEO of my company has become very paranoid after one of his friends told him that if yo usend an email with a bcc that it can be 'seen; by the reciever if they have the know how?

is this true, and if it can be done he wants me to show him how!

thanks,
David

Hi David,

This is not theoretically possible.

There have, however, been one or two situations where it was possible, notably Outlook Express 6 apparently shipped with a bug which enabled this under certain circumstances so if the mail was sent from OE there is a possibility of it happening. (Thanks to Killian at VBA Express for this)

There may also be some other e-mail clients which do some odd things, but Outlook is a pretty safe bet.

There are no tricks - either the bcc recipients are there in the message headers or not. Of course e-mail administrators have access to this sort of information (but not from the e-mail itself).

Enjoy,
Tony
