I'm sending out HTML email broadcasts to people on my company's mailing list and someone who uses Lotus Notes complains he cannot use any of the links in that email. He gets an error that says page not found.

I am using Outlook to send the email and it goes through a Microsoft Exchange mail server. Any idea what causes the broken links for Lotus users and how I can fix the problem so everyone will be able to get the HTML email broadcasts with working links?

I saw an article online that said Lotus has a lot of security features and blocks out the links and that they'd never be able to receive a working HTML document. Is this true?

The problem is with your Exchange connector.

Are you using the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes for Exchange 5.5?

If so, you cannot transfer HTML mail from Exchange to Notes, as it is a limitation of the Exchange connector. Anyone who receives mail will get pictures as an attachment and plain text.

If you are using the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes for Exchange 2000, ensure that the contact record in ADS is enabled for MIME or Internet or HTML mail.

If you are stuck on the 5.5 connector, then I would consider using the connector for syncing the directories and using SMTP to transfer mail between the two systems... of course, you have to have them on seperate Domains and this is not a fun thing to set up... but it can be done.

There are also third party connectors that are far more reliable and easier to maintain than the 5.5 connector.
