Hi

We have a mailbox that gets emails from clients. If the worker responible for processing the email sits and does nothing all day the clients do not get serviced and this is a problem. Is there a way to setup an alert that would send an email to someone else when there is more than say 5 unread emails in the main inbox folder of that mailbox that recieves the client's emails.

Thanks

Offhand, I would say that you cannot do this with just a rule, b/c rules are not set to to look at the count of items (read or otherwise) in a folder. However, you can use VBA to do it, and then use a rule to run the VBA code everytime a message comes in... so you would code it to only give a message when the new message becomes message # 5 or 6.

Also, you might want to consider having either an additional piece, or else change the initially suggested piece to look at the datereceived instead of just how many are there. So, perhaps, this is a slow week (no idea if this is possible or not), and you only get 2 emails, but one of them has sat there for 1.5 weeks. Is that acceptable? If not, have the rule check by receiveddate, and send a message/alert stating that a message has sat there too long.

Is there a lot of junk in the mailbox, in addition to the significant e-mails? If that's the problem, then you can adjust the alerts etc. based on the originator or key phrases. Would that help?
