I tried moving my personal folder (*.pst) from one machine to another by
1) copy the .pst file from source machine
2) replacing the .pst file at the destination machine with that copied in 1)

I could see all mail messages and contacts even on the destination PC.

However, if I try to create a new message, then click on the <To>, <CC> or <BCC> button, I get the following error message
The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or
deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove
this folder from the outlook address book, see microsoft outlook help.

Then I could see the select Names dialog box, which are all blank, despite having a non-empty contacts folder. If I then look at the drop down list on the right hand side, I could see
Code:
Outlook Address Book
Contacts
Contacts

i.e. Contacts is duplicated. If I then proceed to select the second Contacts, I could see all the names in my contacts folder.

I tried going to Tools->Services->Outlook Address Books, and I see Two entries for contacts. Removing either one does NOT resolve the problem.

How could I resolve the problem??

Try backing up the address book that does have contacts in.
(tools\address book\file\export\address book WAB)

When you have done this, find the file you've just saved (.wab) and double click it, then click Main Identities Contacts in the left pain to see if it isyour address's come up in the right pane.
Then remove both your "contacts" from within OE
Then import your saved address book
(tools\address book\file\import\address book WAB)

I had a similar problem and this worked for me.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the old contacts folder from which I could do export!
