Hi,

Is it possible to have 1 account setup in outlook but be able select what name to display in the From field. For example, when I am sending a personal e-mail I would like it to say my full name, but then I am sending a work e-mail, I'd like it to just say ABCorporation. It would be nice if I could just select from a drop down list which name to display.
Is that possible?

Thanks!

yes, it is possible see jpaules suggestion

create both accounts in Outlook with the different names

once done when you want to change the FROM address you will have the dropdown option in that field

But I don't have 2 accounts. As I stated before I want to do it with 1 account

I don't want to change it, I just want to add second, alternative name

If it's an exchange account, you can't. The client has NOTHING to do with the name that appears when an email leaves it.

if an option switch from Outlook to Thunderbird

if you are determined/stuck using Outlook
go to Godaddy email acount manager and set up alias accounts for your personal and busines names

the alias account will be forwarded to you "main" account but you can then set up what you are looking for

Doesn't fix the issue. If it's an Exchange account, the server stamps the display name, not the client.

Where does GoDaddy figure into this?

If it's an Exchange account...
the original post said nothing about Exchange

you are correct if he is using an Exchange server

i had exactly what he is trying to do when i used Outlook without Exchange but i also had 3 different email accounts and could not assign them to seperate inboxes so i switched to Thunderbird and have been satisfied ever since

Outlook 2007 allows you to dictate different delivery locations for various accounts as well. When multiple accounts exist, you can choose which account a sending message is from, hence, the ability to change the display name (to some degree).

As for Exchange, that's a far safer assumption given that Outlook is the official client for Exchange server. And, since the OP mentioned the work account, an even safer assumption.
