Does anyone know anything about Outlook 98 on Macintosh systems. i.e. process of connection to Exchange Server, mailbox setting etc. If you think you can help please do.

Thanks

We have about 40 Macs using OL98 via TCP/IP to an exchange server. You'll need to create a hosts file for the Mac to use to resolve the exchange server name to it's IP address. Use something like Simpletext to create a file called hosts with the following information in it.

Exchangeservername CNAME xyz.com
xyz.com A
Exchangeservername = netbios name of exchange server
xyz.com = We use the NT domain name for xyz but it can be anything that ends in .com
= IP of the exchange server.

Once the file is saved open the TCT/IP control panel. Select advanced under the user mode. With the select hosts file butten locate the file you created earlier.

Using the Outlook settings app create a profile for the user. Exchange server name = the server name used in the hosts file. Enter the users name as it appears in the global address list for the mailbox name, and select TCP/IP. Finish the profile wizard. Select properties on the profile and then on exchange server. Click check name and you will be asked to login to the NT domin. After logging in the server name and mailbox name should be underlined. CLick OK to close all of the windows and start the Outlook application.
