A few of my computers are randomly giving the following error message.

"The item could not be saved because it has been changed by another user or in another window. Do you want to make a copy in the default folder for the item?"

Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? It is driving me crazy!

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

BlairA - did you ever find an answer to this problem - I am encountering it also, only on a few users' machines, and can not find any information on it in Technet and other forums. Any help you could supply would be great.

BlairA if you go with win explore to where the file is located on your hard drive say like my documents is there a icon with the same name as file that has dollar sign in name? It sounds like the program was opened by you once and is write mode and hasnt been saved. Work around for this issue is to
1 close the program
2 then go with explore find that file. Not the original file the faint one that has $ in the name.
3 double click on it to open this should reopen the file and allow you to save it. When you save you will have to name it again. You can select the old name then you will recieve prompt to over write.

I think that should fix problem. I was having same problem as well.

I have had this problem when composing a plain Email, no attachments. Just typing away, when all at once I get the same message. Happens about once every two weeks. Would like to know why???
