I have a customer with a newly installed NT4.0 workstation SP6 that is unable to open attachments in his Outlook client. The mail summary shows a paperclip icon but when the mail item is accessed everything is blank - no attachment, no message. The same mailbox accessed from another PC works fine.

Any ideas?

Are you sure he has a client cabable of viewing the type of attachment loaded on this computer?

If yes, then check the file type association to insure that application is set to open the attachment.

Try detaching (saving) the attachment and see if he can open it then. If he still can't open it, the above is most likely the problem.

Bob Crawford

Yes, I had checked for the easy-to-overlook things like file association, client capabilities, etc. The problem is that when the mail item is opened, NOTHING appears - message text, attachment icons, etc - it's blank. Pending update from my customer, this is on hold. Resinstalled Outlook 98 client, no change. Reinstalled NT, BSOD on 3rd setup diskette. My contact is working with DELL (new machine) currently to fix NT install. I will post an update as news surfaces.

Thx for the reply.
