Hello Guys,

I've come into the office this morning and my Outlook 2k7 seems to have decided to start playing silly buggers with me. It wont remember the passwords for any of my pop accounts.

I have done some googling around and found this tech note on the knowledge base which seems to describe the problem that I'm having, and I've followed the steps.

Repairing or recreating the profiles within outlook doesnt appear to make any differance to the problem, neither does starting outlook in safe mode.

So the third step was to try changing the registry, however, for some reason this doesnt go quite to plan as I get several errors thrown up when trying to edit it, firstly it wont let me Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions when I try to apply that setting it tells me that it was unable to replace the permissions for all of the child objects. Then when I try to Click the user subkey folder that is directly underneath the Protected Storage System Provider key, click Delete I get another error message telling me that it was unable to delete that subkey :-D

Has anyone had this issue themselves and have any advice on what I can try to get it sorted, entering the password on all my accounts is quite possibly the most tedious thing in the world.

Thanks guys,

Rob

create another user account and setup your Outlook there.

Have you tried running the Diagnostic or Repair too;s in Office?

What happened to Detect and Repair?

Outlook Express keeps prompting for your password. "This fix also applies to Outlook, other programs that store passwords in the Protected Storage System Provider sub branch of the Registry. It also corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and Autocomplete".

If you are having Registry Access Problems try this.

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP (Q308421)

Error Message: "Access Is Denied" When You Try to Open NTFS File System Folders

Do you have permission/access to be able to change the Permissions on the sub-key? My Vista seems to allow me to edit and add to the Permissions on that sub-key, although I must admit I have NOT done it as yet.
