Thanks for taking the time to read this. I've been struggling with this issue for a long time now, and it'd be great to get it resolved.

When I use outlook 2003 with my hotmail account, for some reason the inbox never updates itself. What I mean by that is, if I receive a new message that's delivered to the inbox (or any other folder for that matter), it will not update the view until I click off the inbox to another folder then back.

For example. My Outlook is sitting on the hotmail inbox. I *know* I've received a new message, however it doesn't display in outlook. To get it to show the message, I have to click another folder, then back to the inbox folder - then it will update, show 1 new message etc.

Because of that, I've yet to let go of outlook express :-\ There's no notification of new email less I check myself (by clicking off the folder then back on it).

I have all the current updates.

Thanks
Nick

Nope. Looked very promising, but I followed the directions and nada. :-\

Thanks though. It got my hopes up... for 5 mins lol

Hi Neil

Do you have your hotmail account included in your default send/receive group?

If you do a send/recieve and display the progress do you see it synchronizing the various hotmail folders with the server? If they don't synchronize the view won't change. When you go to another folder and then return you force a redisplay.

Jock, Thanks for your help.

I have it setup right now with 2 accounts, a POP Account, and Hotmail. I checked as you requested, and in the details it does show all the stuff syncronizing on hotmail.

The Pop account works perfectly fine, it will get the mail, and update the screen/inbox right when it recieves the message. Hotmail is the only account where I have to click off then back on a folder to get it to update.

But to answer your questions, Hotmail is included in the default send/recieve group (which is just "check all"), and it does sync the inbox (and I made it sync all folders). I tested again, and still that has not resolved the issue. =|
