hey everybody,

I have used Outlook 2k on Windows 98 but just bought a laptop with windows XP pro and Office XP.

I wondered if someone could help me, I have copied my .PST files over to the new laptop and have accessed my 'Accounts' so that I can add my .pst files to OutlookXP and have my mail delivered there, I go through the personal folders part on the accounts screen and select my old .pst, however I dont seem to be able to get them to show up in outlook at all, let alone get my mail delivered to it. Is there a certain procedure I need to follow? Will my previous 2k .pst file work in Outlook XP?

You would be saving me if someone gave me the answer to this one.

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

the best way to do this would be to open outlook up and then from the file menu choose Import/Export then choose the PST option.

Hope this helps

Hi there, First of all thanks for the reply. I was wondering, if the import facility is used, does it add that pst file to Outlook or does it replace whatever is in there or does it take the information from the old one and put itin the new one?

how would you add another pst so its there to simply view, separate from the others?

Sorry, but just one other, if I want to get outlook to start as if its never been opened how is that done? I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, but it remembered all the old settings.

Thank you very much for any help on this.

Paul

when you install a .pst file it creates its own list.

i.e. you will have your "new" mailbox and then a folder called pst in the list.

The best way to get out look to start fresh is to go to control panel and then mail and then add a new account

regards

simon
