Just finished upgrade from Exchange 5.5 to 2K. Having a problem with 1 machine, but of course, it's the boss's machine. Win 2K, Office 2K SP1, P4 Compaq Deskpro with 256MB RAM and 15GB free on C:, running on a NT LAN/WAN, certified 100M 10BT all around. Outlook will just hang every couple of minutes. I checked the app and/or error logs, nothing. CPU is almost idle during the hang and memory usage doesn't increase. The Outlook.exe process is using about 12-14MB of memory, again doesn't change. Reinstalled Outlook, same thing. Nothing being cached locally. All my other machines are configured almost identically, and this is the only one with a problem, and Outlook is the only app effected, and was fine until after the upgrade, but that is probably just a coincidence. Someone please tell me what I'm missing.

I have a similar problem. We replaced our old 5.5 server with a new 2000 server. The problem surfaced after we took the 5.5 server off line. We had both up for about a week and there were no problems. I've had 3 out of 70 users thus far who are having connection problems. I've gone into the registry and tried deleting any references to the old server. When these users open outlook it takes 1 - 2 minutes before they can use it but works ok after it "finds?" the correct server. I also, took an old PC and re-named it to the old exchange server name and put it on the network. This seemed to help also.

Sounds to me like his profile could be corrupt. If you use his account and log on to a machine he has never logged on before (only works when you turn off roaming profiles) does the problem still exists?

I logged onto a PC that was not having the problem with the problem users account and the problem appeared. Any suggestions? thanks,
